The work itself was done correctly The staff was extraordinarily polite. (There are two basic ways that shops make money- by charging a higher rate for the work or by billing for longer labor... even if the work does not take that long. Generally longer labor is unnecessary but is a justification for profits I 'believe in my opinion' that this establishment took that route. For, instance, they actually charged me for letting my car sit and cool down before they could open a radiator cap. I charge me for an analysis even though I came in knowing what the issue was and there was a logical determination for it. When I asked if there would be a cost adjustment they presumed I meant that I might owe them more I actually meant that they would probably owe me a refund.)
Thank you for taking the time to review the work that was performed on your vehicle. As the Service Manager here at Maztech, I was the one that talked your through what was going on with your car. Since you took the time to publically put out your opinion of your visit, I thought it only fair to give ours and maybe help the public with the other side of the story. You originally came into the shop telling me it was your thermostat. You were adamant that was the cause of your temp gauge not working and wanted us to go after that. Upon bringing your vehicle in, my ASE certified technician of over 20 years did a bunch of research on your particular vehicle to actually find the problem and it turned out to be a cylinder head temp sensor buried in the cylinder head and not your thermostat. So if we went after your thermostat like you wanted and replaced it, you would have had the same issue when you left. Furthermore, after you arrived for us to replace the cylinder head temp sensor, I apologized that it would be slightly longer because your vehicle was hot at full operating temperature and that we would need to let it cool slightly before dealing with the sensor. I also made it clear that you wouldn't be charged for this extra time in letting it cool and you weren't. In fact the only charges you incurred were the diagnostic charge which I think worked out well in actually finding the issue and the .6 of an hour it took to replace the sensor. 'In my opinion', I believe the work performed was highly accurate and extremely fair. When you left the shop and I saw you out, I was under the impression you were extremely happy. We strive to be accurate and keep costs as reasonable as possible so I am confused as to how .6 of an hour was too long to take for a job that all 3 of my labor guides says it takes? I am glad you feel that the work was done accurately and that we were polite. Chuck has owned this business for 29 years and that's is a major reason we have the customer base that we do. We do things honestly and with great integrity and in fact we pride ourselves on it. Thanks for listening and taking the time to read my response. Have a wonderful day please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.
