First time I went in for an oil change, they told me what needed repairs, how much it would cost and how long I could wait. This is crucial and wonderful to good car-ownership and I appreciate it to this day. My most recent visit was informative, they were able to answer all of my rookie car-ownership questions and set my mind to rest that I am not, in fact, destroying my car with my bare hands.
