Automotive Service Advisor
Description of Job Activities and Tasks
Summary: Primary customer contact and customer service representative of All Tech Automotive. Directs and coordinates activities concerning diagnosis, service and repair of vehicles. Manages work flow and shop environment.
Customer-Facing Duties:
- Meet and greet every customer in a friendly and helpful manner. Use the phone in a professional manner, always with the intention of creating a long-term relationship between the business and the customer.
- Dispatch work to the appropriate technician to insure the best possible repair.
- Ensure all under-car, under-hood and preventive maintenance inspections and reports are complete and accurate. Complete estimates, work orders and invoices according to state law and to properly provide the customer with an accurate estimate.
- Contact customers and advise them of recommended services or the needed repairs in a manner intended to motivate them to make the purchase according to your professional opinion.
- Be certain that all authorized work is completed and billed properly and the invoice is totaled properly. Prepare estimates in a manner as to ensure the correct amount of profit for the business.
- Act in a professional manner suitable to represent the quality organization with which you are employed, always and in every instance projecting a positive attitude and earning the trust and respect of the community.
Shop-Facing Duties:
- Order parts from sources that will provide a quality product that meets or exceeds the original equipment components at the best possible price.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies to process the services and repairs sold to customers.
- Return unused parts, cores and defective parts to supplier and monitor credit invoices from supplier.
- Follow all rules and regulations as spoken or written in any form by the management, i.e., employee handbook and any addendums issued or posted at any time.
- Maintain a good and positive attitude and the team concept at all times.
- Test drive vehicles as necessary to verify problem is corrected.
- Inspect each vehicle for cleanliness before releasing it to the customer.
- Ensure that all work is performed to industry accepted best practices including procedures defined by the automobile manufacturer.
- Wear appropriate safety equipment as needed.
- Attend company related work and safety meetings.
- Attend continuing education when offered.
- Maintain a cost-conscious attitude toward all company spending.
- Assist other employees as needed.
- Immediately report any damage to shop equipment, facilities and customer property. Complete an incident report as needed.
- Assist service department employees with proper work procedures and company polices.
- Insist that fender covers, floor mats, seat covers are used on every vehicle.
- Coordinate all processes to achieve maximum utilization of the facility and equipment to prevent operational delays in other departments.
- Open and close the shop. Hours of operation for the shop are 7:30 A.M. till 5:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned.
Supervisory Requirements: Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing work. Addressing complaints and resolving problems for customers.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience: Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or three years to five years related experience in a sales and customer service position.
Language Skills: Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to write descriptions of customer concerns, diagnostic tests and repair or service procedures Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, technicians and the general public. Must read, write and speak English proficiently.
Mathematical Skills: Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to calculate gross profit.
Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current driver’s licenses with clean motor vehicle record. (No DUIs or moving violations.)
Proof of minimum state required insurance on personal vehicle.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Able to operate computer system, phone, fax and coping machines.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must have good people skills, outgoing.
Must have excellent communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Title: Automotive Maintenance and Repair Technician – GS and C-Level Technician
Summary: Inspect, service and repair components and systems in cars and light-duty trucks.
“What We Do” - Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all under-car, under-hood and preventive maintenance inspections and reports. Identify all needed repairs or service recommendations.
- Communicate with the service advisor the cause of the failure and provide a repair plan to correct the failure.
- Assist the service advisor with estimates of time required to perform work and create a list of parts required.
- Inspect, Test, Analyze, Service, and Repair the following:
- Brake systems
- Cooling systems
- Control modules and controlled systems
- Electrical systems
- Emissions / EVAP systems
- Fuel systems
- Clutch, differential, driveline and transmissions
- Engine mechanical systems
- Engine performance systems
- HVAC systems
- Steering, suspension and ride control systems
- Use measuring and testing devices and compare actual results to specifications.
- Test drive vehicles as a quality control check.
- Other tasks that may be assigned, such as inventory of fluids and bulk filters, maintenance of shop vehicles, etc.

- Achieve a production rate of at least 75 percent (billed versus available hours).

- Operate shop equipment per the instructions in the owner’s manual.
